Recurrent comments in grade school report cards exclaimed that 'Geoffrey spends too much time dreaming and drawing'. When he graduated from H.B. Beal Art Secondary School, the artist was already represented by a professional art dealer in London and Toronto Ontario, Canada, where he exhibited in both group and solo shows. Geoffrey also received many awards and honors in competitive public gallery exhibitions and in other venues as well. Mentored under the renowned 'perceptual realist' painter Jack Chambers, Geoffrey's painting skills were honed by his master's technique. Later, his epic painting of 'Jerusalem', received rave reviews at Gallery Moos in Toronto. Domestic necessities required that the artist enter the building construction and woodworking fields. Mostly self employed, he worked for nine years in house framing, renovations, cabinet making, trimming, exterior restoration and masonry. During this time private collectors and public art galleries continued to acquire recent and earlier works from a variety of sources. In the off season or as painting trips could be arranged around commitments, Geoffrey furthered his skills in doing plein air watercolors, as a process in preparing for future studio oils and as an end in themselves. After resuming full time art in the autumn of 2004, the artist has finally persisted in painting, this past winter, a large studio oil for which preparatory photographs, drawings and a watercolor study were made over the course of the last decade. That painting is 'Winter Sideroad', and is a dogged example of artistic perseverance. Also, an excellent website was designed for him to feature his artwork, statements and a selection of new giclee reproductions. Geoffrey is presently preparing for exhibitions and is pursuing gallery representation in the United States, particularly along the corridor from Texas to North Dakota, and into Alberta, Canada.
